A selection of our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils have completed the first week of a creative course that will run until the end of the autumn term. With an emphasis of team building skills, the pupils will participate in drumming lessons, learning how to master the art of the Ghanaian djembe drum.
We spent our first session creating an artistic backdrop for our performance. The children brainstormed ideas about what type of story they wanted to tell through the use of music, and then thought of a setting and developed some characters.
We decided upon an island setting, with each child contributing to the landscape scene. We will be following the progress of this exciting project on the school website as it progresses over the coming weeks.
