Our literacy work in Year 6 has been to learn the skill of writing news reports. We have talked about how this style of writing differs from fiction or biographical books. We have learnt all about the need to report facts, and describe events with accuracy. We have been reading First News, the newspaper for young people, each day. This has been a great source for us to see how news events are reported. We practised our own news writing skills by writing a report on a well-known story. Taking the tale of the Three Little Pigs, we aimed to make the nursery tale become a hard-hitting piece of news journalism! You can listen to a couple of our Year 6 pupils talking about their ideas in the podcast below.
