Year 3 Dental Visit

Year 3

We had a very special guest in Year 3 this week with the visit of a dentist from nearby King’s College Hospital. One of our main science topics for the term is healthy eating, and how eating the right kind of foods can help to protect our teeth.

We were shown some photographs of children with rotten teeth,” Kimberley told us. “Their gums were all red. We found out how important it is to brush our teeth twice a day. This will help to keep away gum disease.”

We also learnt from our visitor how important it is to drink plenty of water throughout the day. “Drinking milk is wonderful for your teeth!” Nadrat told us. “If you are going to drink a fizzy drink then it is best to have it at the same time as your main meal. This means that you are eating and drinking your sugar take, all in one go.”

Year 3 finished off their healthy teeth session by taking part in a dental quiz. We had great fun identifying the correct foods to eat, and how our teeth will continue to develop as we grow older.
