We have been learning all about 3D shapes in Reception this week. The children have been talking about the difference between a cube and a cylinder. We have been making our own cubes using clay. This is part of our current class topic of buildings. Once we have made enough cubes, we are going to build our very own building using the Reception cubes. Cylinders have also been made. The children have been cutting very carefully around a template, and then sticking together the design to make a cylinder. You can watch a short video of our cubes and cylinders being made above.
Away from all of the shapes and building work, we all had a wonderful time during the Reception theatre trip this week. We took the children out to see the brilliant National Theatre production of The Cat in the Hat. We have been working on this book back in class, trying to think of as many rhyming phrases as possible.
