Year 1 have returned after the East break, full of ideas and stories to share about their holiday period. We decided to use this enthusiasm during our literacy lessons, asking the children to plan a story, recounting what happened at home during the holiday. We encouraged the children to focus on the main facts we needed for our stories – who is involved, what happened, where it happened and when the events took place. We listed these details, and then set about the task of ordering them into sequence. This work then developed to become a highly creative piece of writing, with some wonderful stories to be told from our Easter break. You can listen to a couple of our Year 1 friends sharing their Easter stories in the podcast below.
