Our class topic of the Victorians has led Year 5 to try out a very different skill during out D & T sessions. The children have been incredibly busy with their own Victorian embroidery. We have learnt in class how important this art form was for the Victorians. The children have been researching the designs created by William Morris, and observing how fruit and flowers seem to feature heavily in the patterns. Year 5 have been very patient with their embroidery. Our own pieces of work have been patiently created over a three-week period. When they are complete, we plan to stage an exhibition of our fine embroidery. You can watch a video of the sewing work being explained above.
