We have introduced Year 4 to Shakespeare’s Macbeth play this week. This is a very challenging piece of text for Year 4, but we have been delighted with how the children are already starting to develop an understanding of the complex plot and characters. The opening scene of the three witches meeting on the heath has fascinated Year 4. We have used this as a springboard to discuss what might happen as the plot develops, and what the significance might be for the other characters in the play. This piece of work has extended into our drama time. Working in small groups, we have recreated the famous heath scene, trying to put across as much emotion as possible. The end result is rather spooky – as you can see in the video above!
