We have been very impressed in the manner that our Year 3 pupils have approached their optional SATS tests this week. We have been giving plenty of support to the children to guide them through, and introducing them to the idea of how to approach tests to the best of their ability. In particular we have been looking at a SATS paper that involves making a map. The task is to come up with an island environment, and then give specific directions to guide the treasure hunters to the gold. We have placed trees, caves and mountains on our maps, and then plotted a route to the secret location. Some of our maps have then been made to look authentic by adding extra colour and crunching the corners.
