Both of our Year 1 classes proudly took to the stage towards the end of the term to perform a couple of original pieces of music and drama. Working very closely with the esteemed composer John Webb and our friends from the Royal School of Music, each class has developed their own theme for the productions, as well as helping to write the melody and the music for the songs. The shows were then staged at the local Blue Elephant Theatre, with plenty of support from the local community.
Lauren’s Year 1 class decided to develop a play based around a character they have created called Moovie the cow. In the production, Moovie goes to the funfair and has all sorts of exciting adventures. You can watch a video of the production below.
Siobhan’s Year 1 class produced a play with a pirate theme. We invented the characters of good and bad pirates, as well as the civilians of Sweetie Land! The plot develops as the bad pirates try and steal the treasure sweets. The civilians fight back, with some help from the good pirates. All will makes sense in the video below!
Many thanks to John Webb, who continues to offer his amazing musical knowledge to our school. The children have greatly enjoyed working with such a skilled professional. Hopefully the videos above are evidence of this!
