As part of our work for Science Week, the children in Reception have been learning all about healthy foods. We took both classes out on a visit to the local East Street Market. We asked the children what type of foods that were on sale would help us to grow strong and healthy. This was very much a practical trip out of the classroom – when we returned to Michael Faraday, we used the fruit that we bought to make a fantastic fruit smoothie and a tasty pitta bread salad snack.
Reception have been continuing this theme with some wonderful written work that has been produced. We have asked the children to separate out healthy and non-healthy food. This information has then been presented in different diagrams in our science books. Our next part of this project is to learn the words for a healthy eating song!
