Year 1 had a wonderful day out at the nearby Wildlife Centre at East Dulwich. We have been learning all term about plant growth, and what we can do to help plants to grow healthy. We prepared for our trip by first of all producing some labeled diagrams of plants. We have been learning about the roots, the stem, the leaves and the flower, and what role all of these different parts of a plant play to help it to grow strong.
Our trip out to the Wildlife Centre was very practical. The Year 1 children were able to plant their own beans and sunflowers. These were taken back to Michael Faraday, where we will carry on looking after them, and also monitor their growth. You can find out more about the green fingers in Year 1 in the video above.
