Once again the annual Michael Faraday Year 6 end of year play was a resounding success. Both classes took part in the production of the Wizard of Oz, with an afternoon and evening performance delighting all family and friends of Michael Faraday.
The outstanding level of achievement in these end of year plays seems to increase year on year. 2011 was no exception, leaving our Year 6 pupils with hopefully some fantastic memories and experiences for the last big project that they will be involved in as Michael Faraday pupils.
We have been working on the production ever since the end of the Year 6 SATS. Having chosen upon a story, a script was written and auditions took place. With a cast list finalised, many weeks of dedicated rehearsals and planning went ahead to stage the production. As is traditional with all Michael Faraday end of year plays, music played a key part in our performance.
Following a couple of dress rehearsals in front of all the other children, finally the big day came! Nerves were high, as was the expectations. We needn’t have worried – both performances were simply spectacular! Year 6 can be rightfully proud of what they have achieved in such a short space of time. We hope that the memory and learning process of this performance will remain with our pupils as they continue to develop at their various secondary schools.
A huge thank you to all of the dedicated staff that made the Wizard of Oz possible – Leanne, Gabrielle, Dilek, Bridget and Liz, our Musical Coordinator. We are proud to show a selection of videos below.
Congratulations, Year 6!
