The autumn term in Year 3 is going to focus heavily on one of our favourite topics – The Tudors and King Henry VIII. We started off this work with a class discussion all about this fascinating historical figure. We asked the children to volunteer information that they may already know about the great Tudor King.
We then looked at various pictures of Henry VIII, and tried to come up with a class character analysis from what we could see from the image. We focused upon his clothing, his jewelry and his posture to try and understand what kind of leader this was. We then asked Year 3 to research Henry VIII online, and then to match up the findings with our own thoughts.
This type of approach to our work will feature heavily throughout Year 3. We have started to look at book covers, and then to try and come up with character ideas and plots, before exploring the work further.
