Year 2 Partitioning Podcast

Year 2 have been making some wonderful progress with what can be a very tricky maths topic. We have introduced the children to the idea of partitioning. This is when we break down either a two or three digit number, and see what other numbers make up this figure. An example would be to partition 10 down to 5 and 5, 7 and 3 or 1 and 9.

Different techniques have been explained to help us with this work. Drawing web diagrams on our whiteboards has worked out well. Most of the children are now confident working with two digit numbers, and so we have progressed to three digit numbers. You can find out more about this maths work in the podcast below.
