Year 5 returned triumphant form the O2 Arena this week having delighted a packed audience with a performance of songs that we have been learning especially for the occasion. Having sung at the South Bank as part of Southwark Splash during the summer term, our pupils were specifically chosen to sing at the gala event to open up the World Skills convention in London.
This is a highly prestigious event where the leading proponents of various traditional, technical and occupational skills gathered to be recognised for all that they have achieved. Fifty-eight different countries were represented in total, with an equally diverse crowd gathered on the night in the magnificent O2 Arena.
To keep in with the international theme, our Year 5 pupils performed a selection of traditional songs that represented all four countries in the UK. A selection of leading drama students from other schools performed some actions to accompany our singing.
The feedback that our pupils received on the night was overwhelming. They represented Michael Faraday to perfection, and fitted in well with the theme of top-level skills being celebrated on an international stage.
