We are coming towards the end of our African topic in the Michael Faraday Reception. The highlight has to be the recently hosted parent’s assembly. We were so thrilled when so many parents were able to come along and support the children as they performed and shared some of the work that we have been doing based on this topic. Our assembly included the screening of a slideshow that the Reception children have been working on. This included a series of our own images, as well as a voice over recorded by the Reception children. We also performed our famous African dance!
The final part of our African topic is to learn more about different jungle animals. We have just started to read a book that is based around the life of a leopard. We are looking forward tremendously in Reception to the visit of some African dancers and singers who will be giving us a workshop before the end of the term. The African theme will also extend to the annual Michael Faraday Christmas Performance. As well as the more traditional singing of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Reception will also be performing an African Christmas song.
