Year 1 came to the conclusion of their five-week musical and theatrical project with stunning productions being performed at the nearby Blue Elephant Theatre. Both classes have been working with the local musician John Webb since the half term break. This has been a project where we encourage the children to develop their own theatrical ideas in terms of story, drama, music and acting.
The end results were two very different plays. Lauren’s Class came up with the idea of The Hungry Dog. Sarah’s Year 1 Class were proud to present The Dragon Who Wanted to be Alone.
After plenty of professional input from John and our friends at the Royal Academy of Music, the performance day finally arrived. Pre-show nerves were soon overcome when we were made to feel incredibly welcome at the local Blue Elephant Theatre. It was wonderful to see so many friends and family of the Year 1 pupils being able to give up their time to come along and support.
We are proud to be able to present videos of both performances below. Both productions were a tremendous success. We would like to thank John Webb, the Royal Academy of Music and the Blue Elephant Theatre for helping make this project so successful.
