Year 2 have started work on researching the history of the Great Fire of London. We have been learning how it started on Pudding Lane, and then soon spread through the old City of London.
Part of this learning has involved an introduction to the diary of Samuel Pepys. Year 2 have been fascinated to read his first hand accounts of the Great Fire. We found it amusing that he decided to bury his cheese and wine to keep them safe.
Each class member has written their own Dear Diary account based around the Great Fire. Class teachers Elspeth and Rafiat asked the children to write in the first person. We wanted to understand the events of the Great Fire as seen through the eyes of Samuel Pepys.
