Brilliant World Book Day at Michael Faraday School

We would like to thank all students, staff and family members who made World Book Day such a success. Everyone in our community was encouraged to dress as their favourite book character.

A specific focus also took place this year. Each class has been studying the work of a particular author as part of World Book Day. It was wonderful to see so many pupils dressing as a character from a book written by their chosen author.

A World Book Day class swap took place as part of our celebrations. Each year group was partnered up with another class. Children of different ages shared their reading experiences with one another.

We also welcomed to our school the Big Foot Theatre company. They stages an acting workshop for Years 2-6. This had the theme of awesome authors. We looked at the work of Hans Christian Andersen, Shakespeare and Julia Donaldson. Year 1 and the Early Years classes took part in a storytelling workshop.

The Where’s Wally? challenge was also enjoyed throughout the school. Six mini Wally’s were hidden around books and in the school library. Certificates were awarded to the pupils who were able to find Wally.

We are proud to share a photo gallery of some of the fantastic World Book Day costumes below.
