Year 3 Science Learning with Tomato Plants

Kul’s Year 3 class have been busy planting some tomato plants ahead of the summer weeks to come. Our main spring topic for the summer term is to look at plant growth. We will be observing the conditions that are needed for our tomato plants to produce a healthy crop.

Each class member carefully prepared their own plant. They were re-potted out of the bulk carrying bags. The children thought about the amount of compost needed and where we need to position the plants.

The pupils were also asked to look at the roots before they were re-potted. We have been talking in class about the function of each part of a plant.

Elsewhere in Year 3 and some of the children have been celebrating after passing the audition to join Zoe’s Dance Club. This was a very competitive process. All children will be invited to audition once again for the new school year.

We are also proud to see that a couple of our class members have been awarded Lego Therapy certificates. These sessions take place for pupils that might need an extra bit of help with their maths and language learning.

Finally we would like to thank Kul’s Year 3 class for such a fantastic Key Stage 2 assembly. We told the story of King Midas and the Golden Touch. Various maths related learning has taken place in the classroom based around the themes in the assembly.
