The Reception children have started a new super hero topic for the second half of the autumn term. We have been enjoying reading the Superworm story by Julia Donaldson.
We have used the worm theme to help improve our maths counting skills. Class teach Emily counted out a number of toy worms and placed them underneath a blanket.
The children were then asked how many more there might be if one extra was added. We removed the blanket and counted out the worms.
Our super hero topic has involved plenty of dressing up in Reception. We have created a super hero cave in the classroom for the children to explore. Super hero masks and belts have been made.
We would also like to mention the fantastic progress that the Reception children have made with their phonics work. These are the building blocks for reading and writing. You can read about our approach to phonics learning over here.
