Year 1 Abstract Art Gallery Adds Jackson Pollock

Year 1 have been continuing with their study of different abstract artists. The work of Jackson Pollock has inspired some of our recent paintings.

The children have been learning how a drip painting can be produced by using a very sensitive technique with a paint brush. We asked the children to also consider how we can build up the shade in our artwork by using this style.

This was a timely piece of art. It soon became clear that our pictures looked like a colourful fireworks display. We have been learning about the Gunpowder Plot and why we celebrate Bonfire Night each year.

Our Jackson Pollock pictures will hang in the Year 1 abstract art gallery. They will be displayed alongside Year 1 artwork inspired by Mark Rothko, Paul Klee and Piet Mondrian.
