Year 3 have started an introduction to gymnastics as part of our regular PE sessions. We spoke first about the importance of safety. All pupils were made to feel comfortable with the use of safety mats in the gym.
The first task to complete was a forward roll. Class teacher Kul helped to explain the importance of using the momentum from our arms as we push the rest of our body into the roll. The pupils worked on perfecting their technique.
The next stage was to add to the presentation. The pupils practiced quarter and half turns from a standing position. These were then added into the final sequence for our forward rolls.
