Year 3 have combined some recent maths learning with our PE gymnastics topic. The pupils have been experimenting to see if they can use their gym skills to form symmetrical shapes with their bodies.
We started off a recent session by defining what is meant by a symmetrical line. The pupils were able to explain that both halves of our body are performing the identical movement. One of the pupils commented that some of our regular yoga shapes are also symmetrical.
Pairs of pupils then worked together to experiment with a symmetrical gymnastics pose. Once we became confident we then joined together to form teams of four. This became a little more technical as four bodies needed to be co-ordinated!
Each group then shared their symmetrical pose for other class friends to see. Feedback and ideas were exchanged.
