Year 2 had a fantastic afternoon of science exploration as part of our World Book Day celebrations. We have been reading the story of George’s Marvellous Medicine. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to create our own magic potions!
Small groups of children worked together. A selection of magical ingredients were on offer to help us with our medicines. These included water, bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, shaving foam and bath bombs.
The children were encouraged to use their imagination and mix together any combination of the resources. The results were quite spectacular! Each pupil ended up with a unique looking concoction.
They also described what they had made once the marvellous medicines were ready. This led to each medicine being labelled to tell people exactly what will happen if they drink it. Examples included turning into a Pokemon, breathing fire and becoming a polar bear!
Elsewhere in Year 2 and the children have all made some origami bookmarks as part of our World Book Day activities. Instructions were followed as class teacher Emma carefully went through each step. The children were asked to personalise their bookmarks by creating a design.
