Year 2 have been exploring some magical maps as part of our recent geography learning. The main learning intention was for the pupils to be able to identify different countries, continents and oceans.
Each class member has completed a worksheet matching up the names of some of these places. We started with an empty box that needed labelling. The pupils used an atlas to locate the country, continent or ocean in the atlas, and then label these on our own maps.
We have been sharing some tips on how to find each location. The pupils have identified how seas and oceans are usually shaded in blue on a map. We have also compared the distance between countries that the children are familiar with from their own family backgrounds.
