Both Year 1 classes have been busy as we approach the end of the summer term. We had great fun celebrating Spanish Day. We shared our Spanish learning with our friends in Year 2 who also staged some special activities.
Spanish art was explored by looking at the work of Picasso. The children created their own paintings based around the style of the great Spanish painter.
Spanish food was celebrated with a delicious tasting session. The children helped to prepare tortillas and salsa dips.
Spanish music and dancing also took place. The Year 1 children were introduced Flamenco dancing.
Elsewhere in Year 1 and the annual Sports Day was a huge success. The children got to take part in a range of activities. The action was competitive and very friendly.
Finally we have been preparing for the Year 1 grand performance at the Blue Elephant Theatre. The children have been working with professional actors and musicians on a unique production that will take place on 16th July.
Plenty of costume preparation has taken place. We don’t want to give too much away about the plot, but as you can see from some of the spoilers below, animal and insect life feature!
