Early Maths Challenge for the New Year 4 Pupils

The new Year 4 pupils have settled well into the school routine during the first few days of the autumn term. Class teachers Kul and Badgie have been helping the children to understand the class rules and their personal responsibilities.

We have started our Year 4 learning by working on some maths challenges. The pupils have played a game in pairs that involves subtracting 15 from a set of different numbers.

The game involved throwing a pair of dice, adding up the combined number and then subtracting this from 15. The answer was then covered up using a marker on a number grid.

The pupils were asked to think about how they would communicate with one another throughout the game and how we can be polite. These are two of the early themes that we will be focussing upon at the start of the term.
