Year 6 have started a new science topic learning all about blood. We started our work with a class discussion to share our existing knowledge.
The first task was to establish the components of blood. We have broken this down into red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. The pupils have researched the role that each of these play in keeping us healthy.
Some of the myths associated with blood have also been discussed. We agreed that blood is not blue. It sometimes appears this colour when our skins absorbs the light.
Our next level of learning in Year 6 will be to explore the circulatory system.
