Year 2 returned from a trip to a grand Jewish synagogue this week, full of thoughts and ideas for future research during our class religious lessons.
“We saw the Torah scrolls,” Jardel told us. “These were big and very colourful. You have to take care when you are reading the Torah. We saw a yad. This is what Jewish people use to help them read their scrolls.”
Back in class and we have been making our own Torah scrolls, yads and stain glass windows. The children talked about how the Torah contains important beliefs for Jewish people. We decided to write down in our scrolls the class rules that are important to us.
You can listen to some of the Year 2 children reading out their Michael Faraday scrolls in the podcast below.
I heard my grandson on this.
