Our ongoing look at dance styles from around the world continued in Year 5 this week as we welcomed some very special visitors into our school. A local Morris dance group came into class to explain all about the history of their dance, as well as putting on a practical workshop as the children were taught some Morris dance moves.
After a short performance, we broke out into small groups to help perfect our technique. We learnt about the clothes that Morris dancers wear, and how these help them perform their dance. We also talked about the accordion music, and how important this is to keep a sense of rhythm.
