As part of our continued work looking at different dance styles from around the world, we welcomed into our school Everton, from the wonderful Aylesbury NDC programme. Everton is an expert in teaching the style of Street Dance. After a brief warm-up, the children were introduced to a different sequence of moves, building up their dance routine throughout the session. The skills that we have learnt throughout the term include the importance of listening to the music, and anticipating where our next moves should be. Street Dance was no different – listening to the beat was essential!
After the session, Year 4 talked about how this particular style compares with our previous dance sessions. Although Street Dance and Morris dancing may appear very different, we agreed that both are all about expressing yourself through movement. You can watch a video of our wonderful Year 4 dance workshop with Everton above.
