Year 2 Maths Week Work

Year 2

Year 2 have used the opportunity of Maths Week to help us investigate a problem based on our current class reading book, The Enormous Turnip. The story involves a number of different animals working together to try and pull the enormous turnip out of the ground. We have introduced addition, subtraction and even multiplication into the text, to help investigate how many animals are needed to complete the task.

P.E. sessions in Year 2 have involved expression through gymnastics. We are looking at movement, and different ways that we can travel around the school gym. The children have been putting together a sequence of moves with their partners, and then presenting these to the rest of the class.

I am very impressed by your website it is very well presented. At our school we are looking to have a maths week in the spring term 2011, I would be very grateful if you could send me any details about the maths fair you had, it is a marvelous idea and we would like to try it too!

Thank you in anticipation of any ideas and suggestions, Kath Middlemiss Headteacher of Lea Endowed CE Primary School Preston Lancashire.
