Year 1 have been celebrating the Chinese New Year by being creative. We set up a selection of different activity tables, and then helped the children to explore some of the traditions within China, as well as improving our own D & T skills. Year 1 made some stunning Chinese lanterns using card and tissue paper. We decorated these with some traditional Chinese writing. Chinese puppet dragons were also popular, as was the painting session using bright colours.
We are incredibly fortunate in Year 1 to have the fantastic support of Lee, who brings to the children her own knowledge of living in China. Lee helped the children to make some origami rabbits, as well as answering any questions about growing up in the country. You can watch a video featuring the many splendid items being made above.
