We welcomed into our school community this week Ed Miliband MP, the Leader of the Opposition. Mr Miliband was keen to visit our new school building, as well as to see how an outstanding school can co-operate with all members of the local community.
Accompanying the Leader of the Labour Party was local MP Harriet Harman, as well as Councillor Peter John, the Leader of Southwark Council. Our visitors were treated to a tour around our amazing new building by a number of pupils.
After the tour, Mr Miliband kindly agreed to a Q & A session with a selection of our pupils. Some of the questioning was incredibly tough – a later news report on BBC London even complimented the journalistic skills of our pupils!
To complete the grand tour by the Leader of the Opposition, we treated Mr Miliband to a performance from our Year 4 ukulele orchestra. This was a tremendous occasion for the whole school community. It enabled our outstanding work to be shared with a wider audience, as well giving our pupils the opportunity to research and learn more about democracy in the UK.
