Both Year 1 classes enjoyed a trip to the nearby Surrey Docks Farm this week. We have been learning all about life on the farm during these early few weeks of the autumn term. The children have been identifying in class as many different animals as possible, and then being able to explain the differences in terms of food and habitat.
We have used this farm theme across the curriculum. Sheep have been counted during our maths work, literacy lessons have seen many descriptions of the animals being written and our D & T work has involved some splendid animal paintings. We even had a special visit from an ex-Michael Faraday pupil who kindly brought in his pet chickens and ducks for us to see!
The children were able to experience at first hand more animal behavior during our visit to Surrey Docks Farm. Many animals were on show for us to observe. We were able to match up the descriptions that we have been learning in class with the animals that we saw. You can find out more about the farm visit in the video above.
