As we approach the Easter break and the various Bank Holidays and INSET day coming up, it is an incredibly busy time around Michael Faraday School at the moment. We would like to flag a few of the important dates and events that are coming up, as well as sharing some recent school news.
All parents have been informed that with great regret we will be closed to children on 28th March due to London wide industrial action. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The school will also be closed on 30th April for an INSET day. The last day of teaching for the Spring term will be 30th March. We wish all pupils and family a pleasant break.
A tremendous amount of encouraging work has taken place around Michael Faraday throughout the Spring term. We were privileged to have a visit from MC Fizzy this week as part of the official London 2012 theme song. The musician worked with a number of pupils, and even filmed parts of his 2012 video around the school. MC Fizzy spoke of the enthusiasm and co-operation that he found at Michael Faraday.
Also being highly creative are our pupils from Year 1. Working with local esteemed composer John Webb, both classes are about to perform a short piece at the nearby Blue Elephant Theatre. We would like to thank John and his musical team for the continued support and opportunities that they are able to provide us with.
Year 5 are continuing with their rehearsals ahead of the Southwark Splash concert that will take place at the South Bank Centre next term. We are now limbering up for the show with weekly dance classes each Monday.
Other after school cubs and classes are also continuing. We are proud to be able to offer our new Latin Club, as well as continuing with the ever-popular football team, Zumba classes, Film Club and Booster Club. Tennis coaching will start in the Summer term.
Staying with the sporting theme and everyone in the school community is excited about the Michael Faraday contribution to raising money for Sport Relief this year. An ambitious schedule of events is in place, covering the Sport Relief Mile and a series of sponsored Zumba classes. We are also grateful for the many kind contributions for our cake sale that will be raising money for Sport Relief.
Don’t forget that Parent’s Evening sessions will take place for Reception children up to Year 6 pupils across the 26th and 27th of March. Please sign up with the individual class teachers if you haven’t already done so.
Many thanks for your continued co-operation and support for our school community.
