We have been studying the text of Macbeth in Year 5, and thinking about the techniques that Shakespeare used to make his work appear as lively and dramatic as possible. In particular, our pupils have been fascinated by the three witches scenes. We have been finding out how Shakespeare uses a sense of rhythm and pace to great effect when setting the scene. Our Year 5 pupils have written their own text for the famous witches scene, concentrating on how we can make the setting come to life with our words.
We have also used our D & T time to produce some string artwork based around the cauldron theme. We laid out the string to show the outline of the large cooking pots. We then printed a series of designs of these on some paper. This project will be complete when we write around the artwork our own year 5 Macbeth poetry.
