Year 1 Fruit Kebabs

Year 1

Year 1 have been designing and tasting a selection of fruit kebabs. We have been learning how this is an incredibly healthy snack for us to eat as it contains plenty of important vitamins.

We asked the children what their favourite fruits are. As well as the usual apples, oranges and bananas, we wanted the Year 1 pupils to taste some fruits that they otherwise might not get to sample. We staged a morning of tasting session, and then we evaluated the fruits.

From this information we were then able to design our own unique fruit kebabs. As well as thinking about the fruits to be used, we asked each pupil to think of a name. These include Fruit Salad Swords, and Fruit Salad Fairy Wands!

The final stage of this project will be to actually make the kebabs. We will then think about how successful this has been, and more importantly, if our designs were to our own unique tastes!

I think this is a great idea! In India we do sheek kebabs (done with mince lamb and chicken), but we do not do Fruit kebab, however we do have plenty of fruit and we do eat lots of them..and they are fresh and yummy…..Shiv doesn’t like papaya and neither does he like to eat melons..and I think they make perfect fruits for the kebabs??
    All the best!
