Nursery Transition

Much of our work in the Michael Faraday Nursery has been all about transition to the Reception class as we head towards the end of the school year. We want all of the children to feel comfortable and excited about the new learning challenges that await in September.

To help with this task, the Nursery children have been spending some time with their new teachers. We have all drawn pictures of the Reception staff to help remind us whom we will be working with next year.

To celebrate all that has been achieved in the Nursery this year, we held a wonderful end of year tea party. The plan was to head over to the nearby Burgess Park – sadly the weather got in the way of our plans…

We managed to adapt superbly, and led the Nursery tea party indoors. Many parents were able to come along and support the children. We had some party food, and then plenty of party dancing.

One of the final events that we held as Nursery children was the school sports day. Our Nursery children competed for eight activities. These included running, egg and spoon races, hurdle races, javelin and the long jump. We have linked this activity in with the London 2012 Olympics, helping the children to understand what is about to take place in our home city.
