We have returned after the summer break to the Michael Faraday Reception with a mixture of new pupils and children that have moved up from the Nursery. Our first few days have all been about settling in together and how we can work well as a class.
One of the main differences for the returning Reception pupils has been the independence that they now have during lunchtimes. We have been encouraging the children to make their own choices when it comes to food selection, as well as to integrate socially with some of the KS1 pupils. Early signs are that this is a great success.
We have already enjoyed a lively music session with Liz, our dedicated music teacher. Our first class reading book in Reception will be Biscuit Bear. As well as the benefits that this book brings to our literacy lessons, there are plenty of opportunities for us to get creative in the kitchen!
