Year 4 recently staged a very thoughtful Harvest Festival themed assembly for our other KS2 friends. We had a slight twist on the traditional theme by explaining how other cultures around the world also celebrate this very special time of year.
Building upon their own family backgrounds, pupils were able to explain how the Harvest Festival is celebrated in Ghana, China and within the Jewish faith. We found out that the common theme for this time of year is to thank God for the food that we are able to eat.
Each Year 4 class member then read out some of their own personal favourite choices of food. We wanted to put across the point that these foods all come from somewhere, rather than just magically appearing. We need to be thankful for the food that we are blessed with.
