Year 2 have been having a tasty time during recent science lessons! We have started a new topic learning about different fruits. As well as the obvious physical differences, we wanted to explore how fruits also have a different taste and texture. We set up a simple exercise that allowed us to log our thoughts on some of the fruits that we eat.
The selection of fruits that we tasted included bananas, pears, apples, tomatoes, grapes, grapefruit and pineapple. Each class member tired a sample of the fruit and then described what the taste and texture was like. We considered terms such as hard, soft, smooth, rough, juicy, dry, sweet and sour.
Some of the fruits that tasted were new to us. All of our finding were then logged accurately on our food tasting table in our science books.
