Year 5 have been continuing to learn more about the complex character of Odysseus, the Greek King of Ithaca. We have been counting to read the Odysseus story and finding out how the character is sometimes very foolish during his travels back the Trojan War.
We wanted to build up a picture of the flawed character, to try and see where he has made his mistakes. Working collectively, Year 5 have been able to write a powerful piece of concise poetry. We have been able to describe with a clear message more about Odysseus, yet still leave the listener wanting to find out more about Ancient Greek character.
You can watch a selection of our pupils read out the Year 5 Odysseus poem in the video above.
