All pupils throughout Year 3 and Year 6 have been continuing work with our online literacy project. The overall aim here is to see how we can use various online tools to help the pupils with their written and verbal skills. Michael Faraday has teamed up for this project with the tech company audioboo, one of the world’s leading online audio delivery platforms.
Having recorded our first boos, the focus for the past week has been very much classroom based. We shared our initial All About Me recordings with our friends, offering support and advice as to how these original recordings could be improved.
We then came up with the idea of creating a series of mind maps. Part of the project is to help the pupils feel comfortable when talking about themselves and expressing their views. The mind maps are a simple visual reminder of some of the topics that we can talk about for future recordings.
We then repeated the audioboo recording process. All pupils in Year 3 and Year 6 were able to build upon their confidence and record a short piece of audio with little written stimulus. The original and second recordings were then compared and contrasted back in the classroom. We were thrilled to find remarkable improvements across most audioboos, as you can hear in the selective playlist below.
This project will continue throughout the remainder of the term. We don’ t want to give too much away to the pupils just yet, but a visual element is soon to be added in to our use of online tools during our literacy lessons. We are incredibly grateful to our friends at audioboo for championing Michael Faraday as their flagship UK school.
