Year 4 have started a major topic for this term learning all about World War 2. This is an incredibly in depth subject in which to understand. Our focus in Year 4 will be to look at The Blitz, and in particular the experience of young children in London that lived through this.
We started our work by looking at a series of old photos of London from The Blitz. As well as the mass destruction, we were surprised to see some landmarks that are still standing today such as St Paul’s. The pupils added annotations to each picture, thinking of a suitable description to explain what they think is happening in the scene. We are hopeful of organising a trip to the nearby Imperial War Museum later in the year.
