Year 5 are now coming towards the close of our Chinese topic. This has been a huge theme for us to explore, looking at the history, culture and religion of one of the largest countries in the world.
Our final piece to study has been the Silk Road. We were interested to know about the trade route that was set up from East to West, and how this developed. Year 5 have learnt how the Romans were the first Western civilisation to discover silk whilst fighting the Persians.
As well as physical trade, Year 5 have been considering the abstract idea of religion traveling in the opposite direction. We wanted to know how Buddhism was able to reach China from its origins in India. You can find out more about these ideas by listening to the audioboo below.
