Year 6 were thrilled to recently receive an invite to see a production of War Horse at the New Theatre, Drury Lane. We have been reading this piece of text back in the classroom and exploring some of the complex ideas contained in the book.
Ahead of our trip to the West End, we asked the pupils to think about how the text might transfer to the big stage. We wanted them to understand the creative possibilities that a performance can bring, yet still contain the main message of the story.
Warhouse is a very demanding book. It contains some mature language that is required in the context of the story. We addressed these issues before our West End trip so that all pupils could enjoy the production in a mature and comfortable environment.
A couple of our Year 6 class members offer their thoughts on the play in the podcast below.
