Year 5 Southwark Splash

Year 5

Year 5 have been putting in some final preparations ahead of the prestigious performance at the Royal Festival Hall as part of Southwark Splash. This is an annual show where a mixture of Primary and Secondary schools from the Borough are selected to work collaboratively on a special performance. We are incredibly proud that Michael Faraday School has once again been selected to take part in this performance.

The main theme behind the show is that of conflict between humans and inner city foxes, and hopefully some harmony come the close. The many stage talents that we are able to boast in Year 5 all have an opportunity to be showcased at the South Bank Centre. Singing, dancing and acting skills are all required. Year 5 have these in abundance!

This has been a theatrical project that our pupils have been preparing for over the course of the past couple of month. As well as sharing in the satisfaction of the final performance, we are pleased to see how all of the pupils have been able to work together and build upon their strong sense of school pride. We have been working well with pupils from other schools, and also building up individual confidence levels ahead of future secondary school transition.

You can listen to a selection of the songs being rehearsed in the first audioboo below, as well as a little background to the Southwark Splash project in the second recording.

I enjoyed doing Southwark Splash because it’s a fantastic memory. I wish there is more for the years to come.

I really enjoyed southwark Splash concert. It was great we dressed up as foxes and face paint. It’s really sad that Southwark Splash has ended. I hope that people ask for the funds to continue so we can have more years of Splash to come.
