We have been preparing the Reception children for their transition to Key Stage 1 during the final few days of the summer term at Michael Faraday. Both classes have met up with their new teachers and have spent some time getting to know what is expected in September. We have also started to follow the Key Stage 1 school routine. Lunchtimes and play sessions are taken at a slightly later time in the day. The Reception children have also shown a mature attitude in attending Key Stage 1 assemblies.
Elsewhere around Reception and the children enjoyed greatly a recent trip to the nearby Burgess Park. This was the conclusion of our butterflies topic. The Reception children have been taking care of caterpillars throughout the term, and observing them change into butterflies. We released them at Burgess Park, having learnt how important it is to always return mini-beasts safely where we first found them.
